Are You Management Stuff?

It's one of those intrusive questions employers hesitate to ask--but with the brain drain and all, they have to. So they scour the universe for new recruits who ooze with promotional potential. "Hey--you over there--are you management stuff or what?" Well, are you? In many organizations, the only way to increase your earning potential is to pursue a management career. So skilled professionals (often excelling in their careers and technical achievements) go into management, where there are budgets to haggle over, politics to play, and employee grievances to deal with. It's not exactly what they thought it would be like.

Rethinking Delivery of Employee Benefits
With healthcare costs escalating out of control, more employers are using a new funding method--self-insurance--to finance employee benefits. Once confined to large companies such as banks and railways, self-insurance is now a viable option for smaller enterprises.

Compensating Association Executives
Many executives working for non-profit associations aren't in it for the money but still need adequate compensation. Non-profit groups have a tough time competing with the private and public sector when it comes to salaries.

Attracting and Retaining Top Talent
The highest priority for any company is to remain successful. One critical factor to this success is the ability of an organization to not only attract top talent, but to retain those already working within the company.
